I wish to vent my dismay on gifting and trading restrictions. Care to join me?
As a result of the recent hacking spate, all players should be aware of the in-game gifting restrictions put in place by Zynga to control the loss suffered by players as a result of hacking. We are able only to gift one item per 24 hours to a single player. A good temporary measure which nipped in the bud the huge losses of items gifted out of players account in hackings where Zynga could not trace the transactions. For those of you that are unaware, gifting items from an account is deemed an untraceble transaction, whereas those hacked where items were traded out of the account stood more chance of getting them back from Zynga support as trades are traceable and the transactions can be reversed.
This restriction did save many from losing all their hard earned items and YoCoins, but as many of you will have found, this has actually hampered enjoyable game play. I for one have found it difficult to gift people as I like to do often in game, with items that make up a set – for instance, I like to give good friends whole outfits including hairs and accessories when they come out new in store. How now is that possible? I can gift them one item every 24 hours. It could take a week to send a friend a full outfit. By which time they will probably have given up all hope of owning it or will have bought it themselves from a sale. Now one could understand Zynga doing this as a temporary measure, while they looked for a more permanent solution. I mean why would they want to use a method long term that truly takes away from the enjoyment of genuine players?
Hackers are, in the main, youngsters. They come up with hacks for things every five minutes or so it seems. Zynga are paid programmers. How is it they can’t come up with something to prevent the problem in hand and give back full game play to the genuine players among us (and we are not a minority – the hackers are the minority – I hope). Those of us who get real enjoyment from gifting our friends and neighbours are punished, where as the hackers just have to work a little harder to come up with a solution, and they will, if they haven’t already. Zynga seems to have seen the gifting restriction as a solution and moved on, despite the complaints and protests of the players and I know there has been a fair amount of complaints.
This is not the only problem that causes genuine players distress in the eyes of preventing scammers. We are unable to trade between servers (adult and child) and on the same IP address; this is not a new thing, it has always been so. This prevents family members from fully enjoying the game to its potential, without that is, seeking out a third party to help in the transaction which could indeed end in tears also. Many family members, husband and wife players, mother and child, father and child, partners, siblings and many more in-house relationships suffer in gameplay due to the restrictions put in place to stop scammers.
Why can’t Zynga put their skills to good use and come up with real solutions to these problems which will allow genuine people to get the most out of their game instead of giving in to the scammers and hackers all of the time. We are the ones that spend all the time and often money in game and pay their wages, whilst the scammers and hackers take all for nothing and ruin gameplay for all. Why let them win? We are the important ones, the ones who pay Zynga’s wages and keep them in employment.
Put the genuine players first Zynga! Get your fingers out and find honest solutions for the honest players amongst us. You owe it to us!
Sincerely,
Agent Gem
