A massive shopping spree was had by many on YoVille.com as a glitch allowed all items to be bought from themes as far back as 2009.
Word spread like wildfire about a glitch discovered on YoVille.com which allowed almost every item in store to be purchased throughout the night and until it was noticed and fixed by Zynga this morning. Happy shoppers were able to buy things from themes such as the discontinued Hollywood, Hotel Chic, 50′s diner, High School and lots more.
For many, this was an exciting time as players were able to buy items at their original prices rather than the extremely high prices they fetch in-game and so enabling some to own items that they would never usually be able to afford. Items such as the Ring of fire, bubblegum mouth, Chunky hair and even discontinued cars such as the YoMacho.
Other players were not so happy about the shopping frenzy. Players who owned items that they had payed a lot for way back then and invested in, say that now they will be worthless and other players who didn’t manage to buy from the glitch sale are unhappy at a missed opportunity, one that will probably not come around again.
This glitch occurred as the run up to the weekend of special events and customer appreciation was getting underway and there was specualtion as to whether this was part of the customer appreciation or whether it was due to the fact that many categories are due to leave the store shortly. however, when it was announced on the YoVille.com forum that it was indeed a glitch and that Zynga was working to fix it, players started to panic wondering if they would be banned for taking advantage of this glitch. Ninja’s have made clear that this will not happen. YoCash sales will have gone through the roof for the duration of the glitch sale so it seems unlikely that items bought will be taken back from players.
It remains to be seen what effect the glitch will have had on prices in YoVille now pricejacked items became widely available throughout the night.
