What’s the point of a flash sale pop-up, if there is no sale on?
YoVillians have a new Spies vs SuperVillains mini theme, and Zynga is giving them flash sales – or are they? Many YoVillians are disappointed because, when they see the pop-up and go to buy their precious discounted YoCash, no discounts show. This is a particular nightmare for those YoVillians who do not live in the US, and as we previously reported, can no longer buy gift cards online.
We think the pop-up is misleading. It reads as though the sale on YoCash and YoCoins is on for the entire period of the sale. It invites you to “buy now” but when players click to buy, there is no discount waiting for them. There is no mention of a discount on gift cards and YoVillians are missing the discount by not clicking on the redeem tab.
A YoVillian called Pink_Skulls started a thread in the Discussions section of the forums, so that players could post when a flash sale was on, allowing other YoVillians to get their discounted YoCash. As more threads were made, complaining about the haphazard sales, they were merged. A number of issues emerged.
1. Players were not seeing the flash sales at the same time as each other. A player would announce a flash sale, a second player, dashing off within seconds to buy, would not see it.
2. A flash sale would be announced, but players would go to buy, only to find that the game would not load and they were faced with a white screen.
3. Unlike previous flash sales, which used to appear at regular intervals throughout the day, the current sales are totally random and do not last for as long.
What started out as a flash sale announcement thread, has turned into a moan-for-all, stretching to 24 pages. Purple Ninja did pop in to clarify the situation but as per usual, it was blunt and very brief.
When will Zynga learn? Players are human beings, with lives outside YoVille. Yes, we like to play whenever we can, but with school or jobs, and house-keeping, we cannot spend all day stuck in front of a computer monitor, just refreshing and clicking in the hope of getting a discount! If Zynga can afford to launch a countersuit over EA, it can definitely afford to throw a few more YoCash discounts the players way!
