How To Series: How To Make A Successful Sale In YoVille

YoVille How To SeriesHave you ever tried to sell your unused items in game or via the forums? If you answered yes, you probably know how stressful and time consuming both can be without a plan in place. Plans are always a good thing when dealing with money, real or virtual.

This article is targeted to give you the best tips on how to make a successful sale in game, and using the YoVille Forum.

Catchy Title

First and most important part of a successful sale is an attention grabbing title. Being that the title is the first thing buyers read, you want to make it interesting to them. Instead of a title saying “Rare Sale”, you should instead say something like “Amazing Rare Sale”,”Cheap Rares For Sale” or “Blowout Rare Sale”. Using descriptive words always helps draw in the buyers.

Clear and Concise Description

When posting a sale in game, there is a spot to describe your event. In this area, you should try and be VERY specific as to what you are saying. There is not a whole lot of room to type what you are selling, so choose your words wisely. If you are selling rare items, choose the ones most shoppers would want and put those in the description. For example, if it is an “Amazing Rare Sale” in the description you should put something like “selling collectibles and costumes” or name some of the items you are selling like “Valentines Bouncy” and “Lava lamps”.

Include Pictures

If you are strictly doing a forum sale, it is wise to post pictures along with the sale. Visual is always better when selling. You can upload pictures from your desktop straight onto the forum or use a third party application like Photobucket or Tiny Pic. It is pretty obvious by looking at thread views on the forum, picture vs. no picture, picture threads get more views. To know how to take a screenshot, click HERE.

Set a Price or Price Range

Pricing becomes the next issue. While an item is only worth what you are willing to pay, it is always nice to have a general idea of what things are worth at the present time. You can refer to the Price Guide to get a general idea of the range in prices for the items you are selling. If you place the price in the middle, you will usually get more buyers than placing the price on the higher end. Going into a sale, it is important to educate yourself because unfortunately there are scammers out there that will try and take advantage at any moment. If you aren’t comfortable with setting concrete prices you can always write the price with OBO (or best offer) after it. For example, you could write “Romantic Hot Tub- 30k OBO”. That way if the buyer wants it, and can’t afford, or doesn’t want to pay that, he/she can give you an offer.

Hold your Sale at the Right Place

Lastly, if you are having an in game sale, where you place it is also extremely important to your success. The first event category is titled “Parties and Music”. If you place it here and make it premium (which will cost you 1000 yocoins), the chances you will get buyers are pretty great. You can also use the “Trading” section, which can be decent for buyers as well. Doing premium events will ensure your event doesn’t get buried or isn’t buried as fast. If you are selling things people want, the 1000 yocoins shouldn’t make a dent in your yo bank account!
