How To Make Money Buying And Selling On YoVille

Do you ever wonder how some players have so much YoCoins? How do they get so much?

Buying and selling items for profit is the answer. Gone are the days when selling YoCash made your millions – this business is far too costly especially now the value of YoCoins on the black market (which even though not Yolegal to buy) has dropped dramatically. 1 Million YoCoins can at present be purchased for $5 whereas selling enough YoCash to make 1 million would cost 4/5 times that amount.

With the changes to feeds combined with the frequent glitches and bugs – Hot dog collecting isn’t going to make you rich and as for the YoCasino – well, the ones who really win are the ones that don’t throw away their money in there. Neighbor visits? Well, that’s not even in the running.. really, is it?

That leaves us with Buying and Selling on YoVille for profit.

I was told to buy low, sell high. It sounds so easy doesn’t it? Does it work? I think that it seems to work for some but not for others.

Is there a knack to it I wonder, as when it comes down to it, I don’t really have a clue. I am wannabe YoSeller. I used to sell YoCash items, but now it’s no longer feasible I need a new way to make a YoLiving. I just don’t know where to start though. I don’t even know what I should be looking for to sell.

I go into game to look at the items for sale in events, I pop back and forth between events and price guide, I pick an item, check the price- is it low enough? If it’s low – is it low because the seller can’t get rid of it, would I be buying a fail? Pick another item, check the price – yes, it’s lower than the price guide – try and take the plunge and buy it, panic sets in again, will it sell? What if I get stuck with it? How will I know?

I spend so much time thinking, speculating, umming and arring over it, I never buy anything, just in case.

So what’s the secret? Is there a secret? Is there a knack to it? Have you either got it or you haven’t?

I went on the prowl around a few YoSales pages and enlisted some help for us with this problem. I asked two experienced YoBuyers and Sellers a list of questions that I hope will clear things up for us wannabe YoSellers and set us on our way.

I asked both interviewees the same set of questions, here is what they had to say:

First is Wyatt W.

Do you remember how and why you started buying to sell?

Yes I do, I started buying because I really wanted lots of the items and collectibles when I joined (July 2009) I really liked to decorate and that got expensive fast. I started out on jumping from sale to sale trying to get an idea of what certain things sold for, then once I seen them cheaper I would buy (This was when no price guides were used). I also bought items I thought lots of people would want and be willing to pay a decent price for.

What is it you buy and sell?

Anything I can make a decent profit on, I don’t buy cheaper items anymore because it takes a lot more work. Also depending on the time and how prices are I will buy 08 collectibles and costumes and wait to resell them. When I have lots of coins and items to sell in case I get low I like to stock holiday items when they are on the cheap side, either a bit after that holiday is over or a few months after to let the items settle down. I usually like to bulk buy but be careful: Sometimes while buying bulk items when everything doesn’t fit in trade the seller will make you pay all in first trade and give you the cheaper items then run with your coins.

How did you/ do you know what to sell or what would sell?

Well if it is a holiday item you want to try to sell it a little bit before the holiday, make sure you don’t wait too long. If the item is not a holiday item I just try to sell a day without a release/1-3 day sale, because more than likely most people are trying to buy those items instead. It’s all test and trial sometimes of the week are easier to sell then others, same with the time of the day, lots of people aren’t on when its late or too early.

Are you ever wrong about something you think will sell?

Yes I have been, more then I like too. It’s getting harder when less and less players are playing to run a decent sale. I sometimes either put the items on sales pages, lower the price to where I can still make a profit, and if I can’t make a profit I usually store the items I can’t sell then wait to see if anyone has events/posted on sales page or forum then try to sell it to them. If it is a holiday item I will wait until a little before YoVille releases that holiday.

How do you know what is a good price to buy at and do you barter to get it to the price you want to buy at?

I go through a lot of events and go through forums and occasionally will scan through sales pages. I tend not to look at price guides unless I don’t have any clue about what it’s worth. I usually find people willing to pay more than price guide because the item is selling higher then price guide says, occasionally items just don’t sell for as high as the price guide says and you can see that if you really scan events, forums and sales pages. It all depends on how much someone wants the item and is willing to pay.

How much do you make buying and selling and how often?

It all depends on how much effort, coins, time and how lucky you can be. Not long ago I bought 107 vday 2010 bears for 3m and sold them all after posting once on three different sales pages and two events, I got 9m for all of them. If you don’t put in much effort, coins, or time your reward will be much smaller. If you’re good at buying/selling most of the time the more coins you spend the more you make.
Once I make a lot of coins I like to spend a good chunk on items that I can make a profit on and wait until I am getting low on coins. It depends on if I have any projects going in game, how busy I am in real. Sometimes I will buy/sell a lot and others I just don’t have to because I already stocked up on coins and items. More now than ever I like to stock up a lot on money so I don’t have to worry about getting low.

Do you sell in game or on sales pages? (Or both).

Mostly in game it depends on the quantity of an item I have to sell and if/when an item just isn’t selling I will try and post on sales pages.

Some really helpful answers there from Wyatt. Quite a good insight into the art of buying and selling there for us all.

Now let’s hear from our next professional Yo-seller Ali A. with more tips and experiences to help us on our way in the world of Yo-selling for profit.

How long have you been buying and selling in YoVille?

I have been doing it for 3 years.

Do you remember how and why you started buying to sell?

Well I don’t really remember why, but buying to sell is just the nature of Yoville where it is the only income, unless you take the factory as an income which won’t give you as much as buying and selling.

What is it you buy and sell?

Well anything that will sell without much effort, mostly it is 08s or 09s.

How did you / do you know what to sell or what would sell?

Well with the experience of buying and selling and going to many buying and selling events, you will know what is easy and hard to sell and what is the wanted item for the time.

Are you ever wrong about something you think will sell?

Yes of course, but that doesn’t happen often only when many people are selling the item.

How do you know what is a good price to buy at and do you barter to get it to the price you want to buy at?

Well first I have to know how much does the item usually sell for, so I can buy it a bit cheaper. Yes i do sometimes barter.

How much do you make buying and selling and how often?

I don’t know how much I make buying and selling, but for me that is my only income, when I don’t buy coins at all.

Do you sell in game or on sales pages? (Or both).

For sure both, there is a better percentage when you use both and of course forums.

Do you have any tips for anyone starting out in yobuying and selling?

Yes always check what an item is selling for before buying it at an certain price, so you can make the right profit and try not to buy items that are hard sellers.

When you start out buying don’t spend all your coins on one item unless you are 110% sure you can make a profit. Don’t lower your prices of your items just because you run your sales, lots of times in depends on the days of the week, and the time you’re trying to sell them, some days and times are not as good as others.

We are now armed with lot’s of helpful advice and tips to start us off on our way buying and selling on YoVille. We hope that this will help all that wish to make an extra income on YoVille with enough information to get up and running with a smart little YoBuisness.
