Lately, some players noticed that Yoville has gotten its very own Tool bar as well. Many other Zynga games already had one (Zynga Poker, Farmville, Mafia Wars..), but this bar made its debut on Yoville just some days ago. So what does this bar do? Like other games requiring energy to do jobs, this bar keeps track of your energy even if you are in a page different than facebook. You will also
earn up to 3 mystery gifts on Yoville each day. Aside from all these, there’s a button that allows you to get back to Yoville in just one click. This feature is supported (so far) only by IE 7+ or Firefox 2+. Zynga is working hard to cover different browsers as well.
Sounds good don’t you think? Why then are some Yovillians complaining about it? What’s all the fuss about? Apparently, some Facebook users were suspicious because the bar, to install, requires access to base information, access to all information anytime, and access to inbox messages as well. Here’s a screenshot of what the application is asking for:

There has been a lot of speculation as to what the game bar was meant to do, what its purpose was, and why Zynga is asking us to access rather private information in our accounts. So many assumptions. So many complaints, and too many controversies.
As of today, the Zynga Game bar install link for YoVille has disappeared. It used to be found here: http://toolbar.zynga.com/install/yoville, but it has seemingly disappeared. Now when you click on that link, you will be redirected to the FrontierVille Zynga Game Bar install page. When you head to the Zynga tool bar home page, you won’t see any option to download a YoVille game bar as well. Could Zynga have removed the game bar because there were too many complaints? Too much drama? Or is it merely a glitch? No one knows for sure except Zynga of course.
The only thing we know for sure is that Zynga is NOT requiring any of us to download the said Tool bar. If you do not feel comfortable with what Zynga is asking for in order to use the said tool bar, then you don’t have to. No one is being forced by anyone to use it. In the end, it is up to you.
