What Happens When You Click “Report” On Facebook?

Facebook- Default 11/11Do you ever wonder what happens when you make a report on Facebook?  Here we give you the answer…

We are sure that many of our fellow YoVillians are concerned about the safety of their YoVille accounts – worried about the safety of their Facebook accounts as well.  Scammers and hackers are able to gain control of Facebook accounts in order to access the linked YoVille profiles.  What happens if their worst fears are realized and they have to hit the report button? What happens when Facebook receives the report?  I, myself, have always wondered how things are handled.

Facecrooks, the online security experts, are aware of these concerns and have posted a very informative article, explaining all…

On June 19th Facebook posted a note which contains the following chart: that details the internal teams, guidelines and workflows that are involved in the Facebook reporting process. (The image in the actual note is rather large, so you might have to download it and view it in an editor to view it properly)

There are four main teams which deal with the following issues :

  1. Safety Team – Violence and Harmful Behavior
  2. Hate and Harassment Team – Hate Speech
  3. Abusive Content Team – Scams, Spam and Sexually Explicit Content
  4. Access Team – Hacked and Imposter Accounts

Facebook assures us that the Safety Team will contact law enforcement authorities when credible threats of violence are present.

The chart also details how Facebook offers ‘Social Reporting‘  - a tool that enables people to report problems not only to Facebook but also directly to their friends to help resolve conflicts. People can use the tool to reach out to a trusted friend who may understand the offline context of the situation and are able to help.

Please remember – Facebook doesn’t go at it alone. They are partnered with over 30 agencies and organization that help in the prevention and aftermath of reported issues. These include: Facebook’s Network of Support, Lifeline and our Global Suicide Prevention Community, Safety Advisory Board, and the NCSA.

What are your thoughts after having read Facecrooks’ article?  Are you reassured that Facebook will act if you contact them?  Have you ever tried to report a problem to Facebook, only to find that nothing was done? Please tell us what you think below.

EDIT:  The best way to view the chart is to click HERE, then click on the actual image.  It will download to your PC and you can open it in Paint.
